Camp Dodge is a military installation in the city of Johnston, just northwest of Des Moines, in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of my last update in September 2021, the base serves as the headquarters for the Iowa National Guard.

Operational since 1909, the camp has a rich history. It was used as a training center for soldiers during both World War I and World War II. It was once the largest training and induction center in the United States, capable of housing up to 46,000 people at a time.

In its modern configuration, Camp Dodge is focused on providing facilities and logistical support for the Iowa National Guard and other U.S. Department of Defense and State of Iowa agencies. The camp offers a variety of training facilities for both individual and collective training.

One of the prominent features at Camp Dodge is the Gold Star Military Museum, which is Iowa’s premier veteran’s museum. The museum has exhibits on various American conflicts, from the Civil War to the Global War on Terror.
