Address:
Scott Air Force Base, IL, USA, Illinois, United States
Description:

Scott Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base in St. Clair County, Illinois, near Belleville. Named after Corporal Frank S. Scott, the first enlisted person to be killed in an aviation crash, Scott AFB is approximately 17 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri, providing a strategic position in the Midwest.

The host unit is the 375th Air Mobility Wing, which supports global mobility through its air refueling, aeromedical evacuation, and operational support airlift missions. The base is also home to the 618th Air Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), which oversees the planning and execution of all Air Mobility Command missions worldwide.

One of the unique features of Scott AFB is its status as a transportation hub. It's home to the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), a unified, functional combatant command that provides support to the eight other U.S. combatant commands, the military services, defense agencies and other government organizations by providing full-spectrum global mobility solutions.

Moreover, Scott AFB also hosts the Air Force Network Integration Center (AFNIC), which is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the Air Force's cyberspace systems, as well as the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a combat support agency of the Department of Defense (DoD) that provides, operates, and assures command and control and information-sharing capabilities and a globally accessible enterprise information infrastructure in direct support to joint warfighters, national level leaders, and other mission and coalition partners across the full spectrum of military operations.

As with many military installations, Scott AFB provides housing, educational resources, and other facilities to support service members, civilian employees, and their families.
